What is Wild Nook?

Wild Nook's mission is to support young children in their most formative years through nature immersion, imaginative play, and a focus on social-emotional development. We honor each child’s unique path, fostering resilience, creativity, and confidence through child-led exploration and community connection.

Benefits of outdoor play:

  • Supports child development

  • Increases school performance

  • Improves overall health

  • Lowers anxiety and depression

  • Develops a sense of place

Play Is Learning

While the play is guided by a goal and supported by adult involvement, the structure allows for a balance between direction and choice, empowering the child to take the lead. The environment acts as a teacher, opening the door to curiosity and fostering leadership.

Hello, and welcome!

With a degree in elementary education and over 20 years of teaching experience, I have devoted my career to fostering learning in diverse environments. My journey has taken me from traditional classrooms to outdoor education, including several years at a farm where I served as both a teacher and education director. There, I designed and led programs ranging from preschool and summer camps to outdoor classes and workshops, deepening my passion for nature-based learning.

Beyond teaching and curriculum development, I’ve also spent the past 11 years homeschooling my five children. Together, we embrace curiosity, creativity, and hands-on exploration, finding endless opportunities to learn from the natural world.

I look forward to meeting you and your explorer!

See you outside!

Miss Amy

What parents are saying...

Hannah, mom of a 4-year old

"Wild Nook helped foster more imaginative outdoor play in my four year old. From making soup with rocks and grass to going on a bear hunt, I found her continuing the same kinds of play the following days after class. It gave me new ideas of how to play outside and enjoy the things already around us!"
